1. Artist: Wisp

   Album: If Not Winter

   Rating (Out of 5 Stars): 4.3

   Best Song On First Listen: Guide light

   Travie Says: Nu gaze/shoegaze musician Wisp was recommended to me by best music friend, Ryan. Her stage name matches her wispy vocal style, but don’t fret - this album is incredibly dynamic. For me, the best moment on If Not Winter is track 5, “Guide light.”

2. Artist: The War And Treaty

   Album: The Story of Michael and Tanya

   Year Released: 2026

   Rating (Out of 5 Stars): 4.4

   Best Song On First Listen: Shouldn’t Have

   Travie Says: Married couple Michael and Tanya Trotter are back as The War And Treaty with their 6th studio album, The Story of Michael and Tanya. The opening track features a guest appearance from Tanya’s former Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit co-star, Whoopi Goldberg. My favorite moment here belongs to the song, “Shouldn’t Have.”

   Album: In A World We Don’t Belong

   Best Song On First Listen: Far From An Angel

   Travie Says: 21-year-old British singer Sekou croons about the ins-and-outs of love on In A World We Don’t Belong. You’ll enjoy album opener, “Does She Know,” as well as “Never Gunna Give You Up,” “Dangerous Lover,” “Catching Bodies,” and my favorite, “Far From An Angel.”

   Album: Sweet Fortune

   Year Released: 2026

   Rating (Out of 5 Stars): 4.8

   Best Song On First Listen: Too Many Ways

   Travie Says: Ryan Beatty has earned so much goodwill from me over the last few years. Not only is he a writer on stellar COWBOY CARTER tracks such as “PROTECTOR,” “BODYGUARD,” “JUST FOR FUN,” and “II HANDS II HEAVEN,” he also is a co-writer on the amazing “SUGAR” by BROCKHAMPTON. His album Calico captured me, and his song “Andromeda” was my top most listened to song in 2025. Needless to say, I was very excited to dive into his new album, Sweet Fortune. Ryan’s delicate vocals and gut-punching lyrics shine through like never before, namely on songs “White Lightning,” “Virtuoso,” and bitter and sweet long-distance love anthem, “Too Many Ways.”

5. Artist: MR. FANTASY

   Album: FANTASYLAND

   Best Song On First Listen: Universe

   Travie Says: The fantastic MR. FANTASY (who is definitely NOT Riverdale star KJ Apa) has officially released his debut album, FANTASYLAND. Don’t let the humor fool you - these songs are no joke. FANTASYLAND is a fun and funky tribute to the 70s and 80s. “Do Me Right” is incredible, but my ears really perked up in the last 3 songs on the album, where MR. FANTASY dives into R&B territory on “Universe,” “Same Again,” and “One Last Night.”
